The most extensive alternative network in France

Neuf Cegetel has the largest and most advanced alternative network in France. Since it was created, the group has focused on rolling out its state-of-the-art "All IP" network in order to be able to offer services independently and to control costs and quality. The network - which places the group at a considerable competitive advantage - enables it to face the challenges of profitable growth and innovation.

  • 49,000 km of fibre optic cables
  • An unbundled network with connections to more than 1,700 URA*, covering more than 70% of the target population
  • Interconnection to all voice local exchanges switches
  • 2,5 million of unbundled lines (1st European carrier)

IP and unbundling - driving innovations
The choice to roll out the "all IP" network from the start of 2003 and to invest heavily in unbundling constitute major strategic decisions. Neuf Cegetel’s unbundled network is an essential asset, allowing for the rapid roll-out of highly innovative services.

  • 2005: roll-out of ADSL2+ (20 Mbit/s) throughout the network and of broadband TV services
  • 2006: Neuf Cegetel leads the way in quad-play services and fixed/mobile convergence

High traffic volumes
With over 3 million residential broadband customers, close to 150,000 corporate sites connected and its wholesale clients, Neuf Cegetel carries high traffic volumes in terms of both switched minutes and IP traffic. The group's network routes a total of 20% of France’s voice traffic. The group is also ranked No. 10 worldwide for its international outgoing traffic*. In IP services, the emergence of a growing number of services and customers has resulted in a sharp increase in traffic.
